Q: Who is a candidate for Nordic Health?

A: Nordic Health Spine+Ortho is a clinic-based, physician-driven, patient-centric treatment program for those with spine and orthopedic pain:

  • Back, neck, shoulder, hip and knee pain
  • Sudden onset of pain
  • First-time episodes of pain
  • A history of chronic pain and/or decreased function
  • Post-surgical patients (requires surgeon’s approval)

Q: Does my insurance cover the treatment?

A: The Nordic Health treatment program is covered by most health plans including: Blue Cross Blue Shield, United, Humana, Healthchoice, Workers’ Compensation, Medicare & Medicaid, Tricare and more.

 

Q: What is the technology that is used in Nordic Health?

A: We use 17 different dedicated precision medical exercise devices with a focus on isolated strengthening and mobilization.

 

Q: Are the devices difficult to use / safe?

A: Please refer to our design principles.

Our objective has been to make the use of the technology a positive experience and completely safe, and user-friendly so that anyone can use it without outside help after instructions. Our experience has proven that most patients are able to use the system with minimum guidance after the first few visits with hands-on guidance.

 

Q: How can I prepare for the Nordic Health program? Is it painful?

A: Please wear loose relaxed clothing. Make sure to hydrate before and during training. Our training devices can be strenuous for the muscles, but always gentle to joints. We will have professional therapists who will make sure that the training is always safe and pain-free.

 

Q: Is there science behind the Nordic Health program/technology?

A: Yes. We have a strong scientific pool of evidence.

There are hundreds of scientific, peer-reviewed studies showing that medical exercise is the only proven conservative care method of providing a long-term solution to pain and functional restoration.

 

Q: Do I need surgery if I go through the Nordic Health program?

A: The Nordic Health program is not designed to replace surgery. However, our patient outcomes show that for almost all patients the program can help reduce pain, increase function, strength and mobility. Please consult your doctor regarding the need for surgery.

 

Q: Can I go to the Nordic Health program if I am scheduled for surgery?

A: Yes. The Nordic Health program can help improve surgical outcomes by strengthening and mobilizing the critically important parts of the body related to the surgery.  After surgery the program can help speed up recovery, however, please consult your doctor regarding the safe time to start exercising.

 

Q: Where does Nordic Health come from?

A: Nordic Health is originally from Europe (Scandinavia / Finland) with a long tradition and successful history in providing spine and orthopedic rehabilitation in 35 countries by over 2500 providers. In the U.S. the program is managed locally by a professional team of people with a long experience in medical exercise-based rehabilitation programs and technology.
